About Our Holiday Rental
Casa Picaro is our little corner of peace, a welcoming home for travellers who want to relax, slow down, and experience the beautiful south-east of Sicily.
Our name comes from the valley below, Cava Picaro, whose views you can enjoy right from the house, stretching across the countryside to the shimmering Mediterranean Sea in the distance. It’s a view we never get tired of.
We fell in love with this place for its wild nature and dramatic beauty. It’s so peaceful and quiet here it is a real escape from the noise and rush of everyday life. Yet, when you’re in the mood for a bit of buzz, the lively towns are only a short drive away. You can sip a coffee or a glass of wine in a local bar, watch the world go by, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of Sicily’s historic centres. The beaches along the Mediterranean coast are just as inviting, perfect for a day in the sun or a stroll at sunset.
We’re lucky to have so many wonderful towns nearby, Noto, Avola, Siracusa and Ortigia, Modica, Ragusa, Marzamemi, and Palazzolo Acreide are all within easy reach. And if you’d like to go further afield, Catania, Taormina,and even Mount Etna make for unforgettable day trips.

Explore local Archaeology
We are situated minutes walk from the incredible ancient ruins of Noto Antica and other interesting sites.You can walk out of the gate turning right or left and there are ancient trackways to follow.
Within an easy walk from the house, you can head to the ancient city ruins of Noto Antica and the surrounding countryside. You can discover Bronze Age, Greek and Roman tombs, caves, forests, rivers, streams and gorges with amazing panoramic views, abandoned churches and historical farmhouses, ancient tanneries and mill houses. All where thousands of years of rich Sicilian cultural history have left their mark.
Dancing in Sicily
As a Dance teacher in Ballroom & Latin American you could always enjoy the Wonders of Sicily combined with some Dancing lessons.
Come over for a weekend to relax and enjoy an evening dancing with the locals or, add a tailor made package including Meals and Excursions and maybe a dance lesson or 2.
For a small fee, we’re always happy to give you a lift. We can pick you up from the airport when you arrive, drop you off when it’s time to leave, and take you shopping for groceries, so you’re all set for your stay. Then you can join us for countryside trips, fun days out, cozy dinners, or lively Saturday nights of food, music and dancing with the locals. We can also drop you off and pick you up from nearby bus or train stations, making it simple (and affordable!) to explore even more of beautiful Sicily.
